Roll roofing for low-slope sheds, porches and small buildings

Cost-effective asphalt roll roofing for low-slope structures, installed the right way.

Chapter 01

Where roll roofing belongs

Roll roofing is asphalt-saturated felt or a fiberglass mat, sold in rolls and laid in courses across the roof. It is one of the most budget-friendly roofing materials, relatively quick to install, and it gives adequate weather protection on low-slope roofs where shingles are not an option.

That makes it a practical fit for sheds, garages, porches, workshops and other small structures, including some small commercial buildings. It is not the material we would put on a large commercial roof that has to perform for a long time, and we will say so if that is what you are asking about.

Installed so it stays put

Roll roofing looks simple, and that is how it goes wrong. The courses have to overlap correctly, the fasteners have to go in the right places, and the laps and edges have to be sealed so wind cannot get under them. Wall transitions and penetrations need proper flashing, because that is where water gets in first.

We make sure the installation is done properly for optimal performance. Rubber options, EPDM and modified bitumen, are also popular choices for roll-type roofing, and we can talk through which fits your structure. The aim is a roof that is sealed, tidy and appropriate for what the building does.

Chapter 03

Honest expectations

Roll roofing is affordable, and that affordability comes with a shorter service life than shingles or a good membrane system. Sun, wind and temperature swings will wear on it, and Eastern Washington's summers are not gentle. We would rather tell you that up front than let you find out later.

Periodic inspections are the way to get the most out of it. Small cracks, lifted edges and failed laps are easy to repair when they are found early, and our team handles maintenance and repairs that extend the life of the roof. If a membrane system is the better value over time, we will say that too. Call 509-440-2428 to talk through your building.
