Roof-First Solar in Kennewick, WA

The roof comes first. A&A makes sure it is sound before solar panels go on top of it.

Chapter 01

Why the roof has to be right before panels go on

A solar array is meant to sit on a roof for a long time. If the shingles underneath wear out first, the panels have to come off and go back on to reach them, which is a cost nobody planned for. The decision to install solar should start with the roof's age, condition and flashing.

That is the roof-first approach. A&A inspects the roof, tells you what shape it is in, and recommends any repair or replacement before anything is mounted. It's the same honest assessment we give every homeowner.

Panel types and how the work is planned

Monocrystalline panels are highly efficient and space-saving. Polycrystalline panels are cost-effective and reliable. Thin-film panels are lightweight and flexible for specific applications. Bifacial panels capture sunlight from both sides to boost efficiency.

A&A's own solar page describes a simple sequence: a consultation about your energy needs, a recommendation on the right system, installation by a skilled team and integration with your property's electrical system. Ask us what that looks like on your roof specifically.

Chapter 03

Plan the roof around the array

Solar can lower energy costs and is a long-term choice, so the roof under it should be planned for the same horizon. If your roof is near the end of its life, replacing it before panels go up is usually the order that makes sense.

Start with an inspection. Once the roof is settled, the solar conversation is a lot easier.
